Sharing a division with the Cardinals and Seahawks, San Francisco was quickly on the verge of falling out of the NFC West race. The 49ers’ game in New Orleans was dubbed as a ‘must-win,’ and San Francisco pulled it out in overtime, effectively extending their season in the process. They remain a relative longshot going forward, but the 49ers are certainly not dead in the playoff picture.
