Chicago White Sox (Johnson) at Kansas City Royals (Guthrie)
There are a few White Sox players with pretty big samples against Jeremy Guthrie but no one has hit that well against him (the best being Paul Konerko and he probably won’t even start). I would probably avoid the White Sox for the most part, though Alejandro de Aza has done well against Guthrie in the past and he’s on fire to start the season.
Alejandro de Aza (OF) – $5953
Erik Johnson goes for the White Sox in this one and there’s not an extensive book on him in the MLB. He has a good fastball with a decent slider, but in his very limited sample last year, he was absolutely crushed by left-handed batters (eight XBH and four HR against in just 79 PAs against lefties). Step right up, Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer.
Eric Hosmer (1B) – $6922
Alex Gordon (OF) – $6971
Mike Moustakas (3B) – $5449
