Texas Rangers (Saunders) at Tampa Bay Rays (Odorizzi)
Joe Saunders gets his first start as a Ranger in Tampa Bay and will face Jake Odorizzi, the rookie who is making just his seventh career start.
Saunders saw his ground ball rate spike last year so his ERA over 5.00 and BABIP of .332 from 2013 probably is a little unlucky. That doesn’t mean I’ll use him much in DFS this year (though if there was a game to start him, this would be one of them). This team is also facing a rookie who doesn’t strike out guys at a high rate, so I would look for cheap Texans (of which there are few).
Leonys Martin (OF) – $6503
Jake Odorizzi was (is?) a highly regarded prospect and he’ll now be looked on to help the Rays get to the playoffs. There isn’t much batter vs pitcher information for Saunders, but he was crushed against right-handed batters last year.
Evan Longoria (3B) – $8961
Yunel Escobar (SS) – $5759
Jose Molina (C) – $3494
