Los Angeles Kings at Edmonton Oilers
The Kings lost last night in Calgary 4-3 in a shootout, though they outshot the Flames by a margin of 44-18. This isn’t a team playing bad hockey right now, though they certainly aren’t getting the results with three straight losses. The Kings have nothing left to play for this season so I wonder what the effort will be on the second night of back to back games on the road. The penalty kill has killed off just 10 of 14 in their last six games for a 71.4-percent efficiency. This is a team that I would keep an eye on close to puck drop to see which players may or may not be sat.
The Oilers have just three wins in their last 11 games with two of those wins coming over the Anaheim Ducks (who for some reason have had trouble with that team this year). The team has just 13 goals in their last six games though so I’m not sure how many they’ll put behind one of the best possession teams in the league.
With Jonathan Quick starting last night, I would assume that Martin Jones gets the game tonight. I would keep an eye on Daily Face Off to see if anyone gets the press box tonight.
The Kings have won all three games against the Oilers this year although they weren’t very high scoring (eight goals in three games for Los Angeles). I would lean the Kings for some 50/50 skaters but that’s about it from this one.
