MLB Power Rankings Week 15

Stephen Vogt

16. Cleveland Indians (43-44) (LW 17) – Michael Brantley is the sole Indian making the trip to Target Field. His career year includes a .321 average, 34 extra-base hits, and a .895 OPS.

17. New York Yankees (44-43) (LW 15) – He may not be the A.L.’s best shortstop, but Derek Jeter is still hitting .273 in his farewell season, good enough for fifth among those at the position.

18. Kansas City Royals (45-42) (LW 16) – Wieters was elected the starter for the game, but it’s Kansas City’s Salvador Perez who will now get the start. It’s arguable he should have been that guy to begin with. His 3.2 WAR is tops among all A.L. catchers.

19. Tampa Bay Rays (41-50) (LW 23) – Though they have been on a roll as of late, winning eight of nine, there hasn’t been much to celebrate in Tampa this year. David Price will be the lone Ray representative in what could be his last All-Star Game with the team.

20. Chicago White Sox (42-47) (LW 24) – Phenom Jose Abreu is making his All-Star Game debut, joining shortstop Alexei Ramirez, who quite possibly could have been the starter if Derek Jeter wasn’t on his retirement lap.
