MLB Power Rankings Week 15

Stephen Vogt

11. Pittsburgh Pirates (47-41) (LW 14) – Josh Harrison earned his first all-star selection thanks to his versatility. He’s hitting .298, having played five different positions, but starting just 55 percent of the team’s games.

12. Cincinnati Reds (45-42) (LW 6) – Cincinnati has four all-stars with three of them making their first appearances. Aroldis Chapman with his 17.15 K/9 rate, which leads all pitchers who have thrown more than one inning, is on his third all-star team.

13. Washington Nationals (48-39) (LW 12) – Jordan Zimmermann is the only Nat in this year’s game and is making his second straight all-star team. He’s arguably better this year than he was last year, with a better ERA, strikeout rate, and walk rate.

14. Toronto Blue Jays (47-43) (LW 11) –Toronto has been successful this year largely due to its offense. But pitcher Mark Buehrle is getting some all-star love for the first time since 2009. He’s led the Blue Jays’ pitching staff, and his 3.9 WAR is third-best among A.L. pitchers.

15. Miami Marlins (43-45) (LW 22) – The All-Star Game will give the country a chance to actually watch Giancarlo Stanton. The young slugger is enjoying a great year, hitting .308 with 21 homers and 62 RBI.
