MLB Power Rankings Week 15

Stephen Vogt

6. Los Angeles Dodgers (51-40) (LW 4) – Fans were calling for Yasiel Puig to make last year’s all-star team after just a few weeks in the Majors. It didn’t happen then, but they spoke now, electing him a starter.

7. St. Louis Cardinals (47-42) (LW 7) – Molina gets the start behind the plate for the National League in his sixth all-star appearance. That’s tied for most for a single player on the N.L. team.

8. San Francisco Giants (49-39) (LW 8) – Madison Bumgarner is making his second straight all-star team, but he is pitching Sunday and won’t appear in the game. Could that mean teammate Tim Hudson could make the trip? His 2.53 ERA and 1.05 WHIP are both sixth-best in the N.L.

9. Seattle Mariners (48-40) (LW 10) – The only Mariner position player on the all-star team is Robinson Cano, but it’s hard not to make the case for Kyle Seager. The third baseman has the A.L.’s sixth-best WAR of 3.5.

10. Baltimore Orioles (48-40) (LW 13) – The Orioles had three players elected to the A.L.’s starting lineup, including the injured Matt Wieters. It’s an impressive fan showing for a team that ranks in the middle of the pack for offense.
