Seattle Mariners (Maurer) at Miami Marlins (Slowey)
Brandon Maurer is making his first start of the season and let’s hope this goes better than it did last year (6.30 ERA, 4.90 FIP in 90 innings pitched). Amazingly, his price tag is almost $13K today which makes me think this might be a sucker bet to try to get him into lineups. Even if it is Miami, Maurer is a wild pitcher that can get himself in a lot of trouble.
The Marlins have won both games against Seattle so far this weekend, with their pitchers limiting Seattle to just four runs over two games. The Mariners lineup is pretty thin with a few of their hitters scuffling at the plate as it is, it seems as though going to a National League park only compounds this problem. I don’t mind Slowey today at all, especially considering he has a nearly identical price tag as Maurer.
Kevin Slowey (SP) – $13,602
Garrett Jones (1B) – $5764
