Week 5 NFL Power Rankings

Philip Rivers

26. Buffalo Bills (Last week: 20)

Kyle Orton just supplanted your 2013 first-round pick under center. That’s a major misstep for the Bills in terms of building the franchise in the future and destroying the confidence of a young quarterback.

Now the rest of 2014 — beginning in Week 5 — is contingent on the success of Orton, a career journeyman who retired in the offseason. Barring a minor miracle, Buffalo just decided to end its season.

What to know: Do the Bills have the best defensive line in football? According to Pro Football Focus, it’s certainly a possibility. PFF graded the D-line at +9.4 for their game against the Texans. All four linemen graded positively, including Marcell Dareus, who helped hold Arian Foster and Alfred Blue to 15 yards and combined for three sacks.
