MLB Power Rankings Week 24

21. Philadelphia Phillies (66-76) (LW 23) – One of the bright spots of the Phillies’ season was the team’s combined no-hitter against the Braves on Monday. Cole Hamels started the game with six hitless innings, with Jake Diekman, Ken Giles, and Jonathan Papelbon adding perfect frames to finish off MLB’s fourth no-hitter of the year.

22. Cincinnati Reds (67-76) (LW 19) – The Reds are another team heading nowhere fast. They have a MLB-worst team ERA of 6.18 ERA this month, leading to a 1-5 record.

23. Chicago Cubs (64-79) (LW 24) – It was a tale of two cities for the Cubs last week. Chicago swept Milwaukee in three games, outscoring them 17-5. But that was followed up by the Cubs getting swept by Pittsburgh in three games and being outscored 20-7.

24. Houston Astros (63-80) (LW 27) – The Astros finally made a managerial move, firing Bo Porter on Monday. Coincidence or not,  things have been going well for Houston this month. The Astros are 4-1 and have N.L.-best 2.23 team ERA in September.

25. Chicago White Sox (63-79) (LW 22) – The White Sox are limping toward the finish line offensively. Chicago has scored only 12 runs this month, which is the lowest in MLB. The team is also hitting just .213.
