MLB Power Rankings Week 24

Adam Jones

11. Seattle Mariners (78-64) (LW 14) – Hisashi Iwakuma is tied with Felix Hernandez for the team lead with 14 wins. Iwakuma may be the best number two pitcher in baseball. Since July of 2012, when he first became a starter, he owns a 2.76 ERA. Only Clayton Kershaw and Felix Hernandez have a lower ERA among pitchers with 400 IP.

12. Cleveland Indians (74-67) (LW 12) – Carlos Carrasco‘s great year is getting even better. Starting his last two games, he went 14 innings against Tigers and White Sox, allowing one run while striking out 18, and nearly turning in a complete game against Chicago on Sunday.

13. Milwaukee Brewers (74-69) (LW 9) – The Brewers have slipped outside of the playoff picture. They have lost nine in a row and 11 of 12. They now sit five games back in the division and are .5 games out of a Wild Card spot.

14. Atlanta Braves (74-69) (LW 13) – If the Braves plan on overtaking someone for a postseason berth, they will need to get their bats going. Atlanta is hitting a MLB-worst .164 in six games this month, while scoring just 14 runs. They are 2-4 in those games.

15. New York Yankees (73-68) (LW 15) – The Yankees held Derek Jeter Day on Sunday, but New York couldn’t even win that one for their captain, getting shut out for the second time in three games. At this point, it looks like Jeter will have only 11 more games at home, as the Yankees’ playoff hopes are slipping away.
