MLB Power Rankings Week 24

Adam Jones

16. Toronto Blue Jays (73-69) (LW 16) – The Blue Jays were dealt a big blow, as they have lost Melky Cabrera for the rest of the season with a broken finger. He leads the team in hits with 171, and is tied for second in WAR at 3.2.

17. Miami Marlins (69-72) (LW 18) – Brad Hand got the win Sunday in the Marlins’ shutout of the Braves. It was his first career win against an N.L. East team. In his previous 16 starts, he was 0-11 with a 5.88 ERA

18. Tampa Bay Rays (69-75) (LW 20) – The David Price trade isn’t looking too bad for the Rays at this point. Since being shipped to Tampa, Drew Smyly has made seven starts, and in 47.2 innings he is 3-1 with a 1.70 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, and 44 strikeouts.

19. New York Mets (68-75) (LW 21) – The Mets were actually on the right side of history last week. On Friday, Travis d’Arnaud, Wilmer Flores, and Dilson Herrera all hit home runs, becoming the first rookie catcher, second baseman, and shortstop to homer in the same game.

20. San Diego Padres (66-76) (LW 17) – The Padres’ bats have gone cold during their five-game losing streak. They scored just eight runs in five games, and were shut out twice in Colorado. Starting their new week: a date with Clayton Kershaw on Monday.
