Cleveland Indians (Kluber) at Toronto Blue Jays (McGowan)
Kluber had a rough start to the season but has now given up just six earned runs in his last 28.1 innings pitched (1.91 ERA) with 38 strikeouts and just six walks. He has a pretty high salary though and the Jays have an AL-leading .759 OPS as a team. I’d rather use him as a top pitcher in a GPP. I do like some of their hitters against the righty McGowan, though.
Yan Gomes (C) – $6571
Mike Aviles (3B) – $5314
I would be fine with taking McGowan as a flier third pitcher, he has averaged six innings per start and 1.67 runs per start over his last three. The problem is he’s not striking out many guys (9) and walking almost as many (8). I would be a bit wary on the Jays’ hitters, though, as Kluber has pretty good strikeout stuff so he has the ability to make just about any lineup look foolish.
Melky Cabrera (OF) – $6824
