Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes
Washington has been eliminated from the playoffs so if DFSers thought they were difficult to pinpoint, imagine doing that now that they have nothing to play for.
The Caps are having a lot of trouble generating offense, as the team has managed at least 30 shots on goal just twice in their last nine games. This has led to just 22 goals in their last nine, seven of those coming in their last two games. The team has finally stacked the top line with regularity, though, and that could provide some good value for tonight’s game. Of note is that Marcus Johansson has somehow managed to stay on the top power play unit.
The Hurricanes are 2-2-2 in their last six games and here’s the curious thing about that stretch: Eight goals scored in the two wins, five goals scored in the two losses. This is truly an all-or-nothng team, playing another team that has nothing left to play for and has generally played bad hockey for the last month. Yay?
These two teams have only averaged about 5.5 goals total per game in their four games against each other this year but who knows how this will play out with these teams just crossing off days until the season is over. I do like Anton Khudobin in net today, though.
