Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – April 1

Tyler Seguin

Carolina Hurricanes at Pittsburgh Penguins

The Hurricanes are another team that played last night, and they managed a 2-1 shootout loss in Ottawa. That now gives the Hurricanes six goals in their last three games, contests against the Panthers, Blue Jackets, and Senators. In other words, against teams that are 14th, 27th, and 28th in goals against per game, the Hurricanes managed just two goals/game. Even if they are playing a depleted Penguins team, their recent history isn’t providing much opportunity for DFS success tonight.

For all their problems, the Penguins have only allowed nine goals against in their last five games. The power play is just 1-for-19 over those five games, though, and the team has scored just 10 goals. Without Evgeni Malkin, and without their star defensemen, this team is essentially a one-line team that has to rely on team defense to succeed. That might be good for their prospects as a team, but it’s not good for DFS.

Prior history between these two teams is fairly irrelevant given the lineup the Penguins are trotting out right now. I don’t expect a lot of goals tonight but with Carolina on a back to back on the road, I wouldn’t be afraid to use Marc-Andre Fleury in both GPPs and 50/50 games. I will understand if people are afraid to use Fleury, though, given his general history.
