MLB Power Rankings Week 22

Scott Hairston

1. Los Angeles Angels (77-52) (Last Week 1) – The Angels salvaged the third game of their big series with the A’s on Sunday, to reclaim the A.L. West lead. However, time will tell how they will be able to deal with the loss of Garrett Richards.

2. Oakland Athletics (76-53) (LW 2) – Billy Beane is not sitting still even though the non-waiver trade deadline has passed. He acquired catcher Geovany Soto from Texas for cash, and claimed Rays shortstop Yunel Escobar on waivers.

3. Washington Nationals (75-54) (LW 6) – The Nationals completed one of the most impressive winning streaks in baseball this year, with walk-off after walk-off.  They have established themselves as a favorite for the N.L. Pennant.

4. Los Angeles Dodgers (74-58) (LW 5) – Hyun-Jin Ryu is scheduled to come off the disabled list on Friday and it can’t come soon enough. In his place, Kevin Correia has allowed 11 runs through eight innings over two starts.

5. Baltimore Orioles (73-55) (LW 4) – The Orioles have been running away with the A.L. East, but their chances for a run in October took a big hit last week as the team found out third baseman Manny Machado would be lost for the year with a torn knee ligament.
