DFS Fantasy Hockey Value Update – December 16

Jonathan Bernier fantasy hockey

Winnipeg Jets at Columbus Blue Jackets

This game is a little tough to project right at the moment because there is potential that both Winnipeg’s Evander Kane and Columbus’ Marian Gaborik both return to action tonight. It’s not a guarantee or even a likelihood, but the possibility is there:

Gaborik was on the ice today, and we’re still waiting for an update on Kane.

Hockey is a funny thing. The Jets went seven straight games without a power play goal, and their record was 4-3 over that stretch. In interviews, players and coaches were wondering when the power play would come back. Well, they’ve now scored four power play goals in their last three games, but lost all three. It’s not about scoring goals, it’s about preventing them, and Winnipeg allowed 11 goals against in those three games, all starts by Ondrej Pavelec.

Columbus, despite their quasi-melt down against St. Louis, is still playing some pretty good hockey. They’re playing even better hockey at home, where they’re 4-1-1 in their last six games. Their strength right now is they have good balance on their top two scoring lines, which can throw off the matchups of the opposition.

I like Columbus to keep the fun going tonight, but there may not be a lot of goals, so pick your players carefully here.
