Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 11

Claude Giroux

New Jersey Devils at Philadelphia Flyers

We must be in some alternate reality right now because the New Jersey Devils have been an offensive juggernaut for a while now. Over the last six games, the Devils have scored 26 goals total and no less than four in all but on contest. In those six games, the power play has converted eight times while the penalty kill has only given up three power play goals against in return. It’s a bit of a mirage, though, as the team has averaged less than 30 shots a game in these six games. The team is shooting 14.6-percent over those contests so it’s more of a hot streak than anything else. When the hot streak finally ends is anyone’s guess.

The Flyers had won three in a row before a hiccup in Toronto on Saturday night, a 4-3 overtime loss. As has been the problem for this team all season, they can’t keep the puck out of their own net: Philadelphia has allowed four goals against in three straight games and allowed 21 goals against in five games since the Olympics. The Giroux line has been absolutely on fire for this team so if I were to take any plays from this team, they’ll likely come from the top line.

These two teams have met three times this year already with the Flyers taking two and the Devils taking one. Those games were all low-scoring (nine total goals in those three games) but I think that trend gets bucked tonight. I would avoid both goalies, stack the top Flyers line in GPPs and pick from both sides on smaller cash game.
