Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – January 31

Henrik Zetterberg

Vancouver Canucks at Winnipeg Jets

Vancouver is just in a tailspin right now. The Canucks are 4-8-2 this month and have not scored a power play goal in five straight games. Even their wins have been ugly, scratching out a shootout win over Calgary and a 2-1 win in Edmonton. This is not a team playing with much confidence, Henrik Sedin has left a pretty big void on the team and the Canucks don’t have the depth up front to lose their key guys for any extended period of time.

The Jets got some bad news last game as it was found out Evander Kane will be out until after the Olympics with an infection in his hand. It didn’t seem to slow down his line mates much in their last game as the line of Chris ThorburnMark ScheifeleBlake Wheeler figured in on all three of Winnipeg’s goals in their 4-3 loss to Nashville. That game was a friendly reminder that Ondrej Pavelec is still a bad goaltender and can single-handedly lose games for the Jets on a consistent basis.

The only game so far this year between the two teams was a little over a month ago and was a 2-1 win for Vancouver in Vancouver. This should be a similarly low-scoring game again but the specter of Pavelec always looms large over any game.

Despite Pavelec’s issues, I do like the Jets to score their fair share of goals tonight. Whether the Canucks fill the net on Pavelec, well that’s a toss-up. There are good plays on both sides of the ice, though.
