Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – January 31

New Jersey Devils at Nashville Predators

Speaking of back-to-back games on the road, the oldest team in the NHL will be doing exactly that as the Devils won in overtime last night in Dallas and will be going into Nashville tonight.

New Jersey played what is a typical Devils road game: they limited their opponent’s chances and cashed in on the few they had. The result was a power play in overtime where they were able to seal the second point for the team. Over their last three games, the Devils are allowing just 22 shots against per game, a testament to their solid team defense. The Devils have played three games so far this year that were the second of back-to-backs on the road and each game has gone past regulation (they are 1-0-2). Expect another “grind them down” kind of game from them tonight.

The Predators are 1-1-3 against the Eastern Conference this month and each game they’ve played against the East in January has been a one goal game. One thing that Nashville has done is score at least four goals in three straight home games and with the anticipation that Martin Brodeur will start for New Jersey, they could make it four in a row tonight.

Despite New Jersey’s penchant for grinding games to a halt, Nashville has the ability to blow this game open if their power play connects (not saying it will). Despite that possibility, the most likely outcome is a 2-1 or 3-2 non-regulation game so that makes the goalies a toss-up. I would be tempted with whoever starts in net for Nashville but that’s about it.
