Top 5 Running Backs In The 2015 NFL Draft

Todd Gurley

1. Todd Gurley, Georgia

One of the baddest backs in all the nation last season at Georgia, Gurley may have been one of the finalists for the Heisman Trophy winner if not for tearing his ACL. Gurley is a big, powerful back with the ability to bust through defenders. He’s a true workhorse runner that gets the rock and plows straight ahead.

Gurley was suspended four games in 2014 after accepting $3,000 to autograph memorabilia, but it’s a concern teams will likely be willing to look over. Another former Georgia star, A.J. Green, underwent a similar incident in college. Aside from that blip, Gurley is considered a high-character player.

Gurley has been connected with two teams in need of a running back. The Colts need to find a true No. 1 style running back and could be willing to snatch Gurley despite the fact he could miss part of the 2015 season. If they pass him up, many see him as the successor to Beast Mode in Seattle.

After tearing his ACL in November 2014, Gurley should be ready to return to the field sometime between May and August. He’s already jogging, which is a positive sign, and will participate in the Bulldogs’ Pro Day March 18.
