It’s official: Jameis Winston is going to put his name in the hat for the upcoming 2015 NFL draft as the former Heisman Trophy winner and 2013 BCS National Championship-winning quarterback will test his hand in the pros.
Winston was expected to wait until after Monday’s title game between Ohio State and Oregon to announce his intentions, but word leaked out early Wednesday that he is heading to the NFL. Per an ESPN report, the decision was made after Winston received a first-round grade from the NFL draft advisory committee.
If that’s the case, almost half of the 32 teams — give or take — could be in the market for a new quarterback. Six of them draft in the top 10 this year.
