This was a quarterback duel between Randy Wright of the Packers and Joe Ferguson of the Lions. Wright threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns, while Ferguson threw for 256 yards and three scores. The Lions had a 40-30 lead early in the fourth quarter, but Wright threw an 11-yard TD pass to Paul Ott Carruth and then unlikely hero Walter Stanley would score his third touchdown of the game when he returned a punt 86 yards for the game-winning touchdown. Stanley had the look of a future star that day, but his career stalled after that memorable performance.
