7 Takeaways From Week 5 In The NFL

Tom Brady

No nail in the Patriots’ coffin yet

Every time we’re ready to bury the Patriots, they come through with an eye-opening win. New England knocked off previously unbeaten Cincinnati, outscoring the Bengals 20-3 in the first half. The much-maligned Tom Brady threw for 292 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Rob Gronkowski stepped up to slash the Bengals’ vaunted defense for 100 yards and a score, and Stevan Ridley eclipsed 100 yards rushing as the New England offense finally looked as potent as we thought it could.

The Patriots move to 3-2 with the win, and suddenly they remind the football world that they’re still the class of the AFC East.

Consequently, the Bengals fall into the loss column for the first time this year. Coming off a bye and running into a very motivated New England team, Cincinnati’s loss is likely a product of not being ready for such an emotional team. Let’s not begin to worry about the Bengals just yet.
