Boston Bruins at Buffalo Sabres The first of game of a home-and-home between the Bruins and the Sabres is tonight. Their first meeting, a 5-2 win back on October 23rd, seems like a lifetime ago in Sabres years. Boston has been on an incredible stretch of games for quite a while now; they are 15-4-1 in their last 20 games, 7-3 in their last 10 and 5-1 in their last six. They have five power play goals in their last five games while giving up just one while short-handed. The Bruins also have just one loss in their last 20 games when the opposition scores fewer than four goals. Buffalo, meanwhile, is coming off a 4-2 win at home to Winnipeg. They’re also 3-3-2 over their last eight games, which is pretty good considering how this team started the year. The Sabres problem continues to be goal scoring. That four goal outburst was the first time they did just that in 17 games, dating all the way back to November 5. The improvement in their possession and defense is a step in the right direction, but they’re still relying on Ville Leino and Steve Ott for secondary scoring, and that’s very problematic. This should be a low-scoring game, and I wouldn’t be opposed to starting Chad Johnson for the Bruins if he gets the nod (he’s probable to start).
