Daily Fantasy Hockey: DFS DraftKings Values – March 26

Brad Marchand

Colorado was the only team that played last night that is also playing tonight. Of note is that they started Reto Berra last night, which means Semyon Varlamov in net tonight. Not that it improves the team, but it does give some concern as to the scoring upside for Vancouver tonight.

*UPDATE: I was incorrect in saying Berra started last night. It was Varlamov who started but was pulled before the 10 minute mark of the first period in favor of Berra.

It’s a huge slate, but no team is favored more than (-200) from Covers Experts: Washington and Vancouver. The Canucks scare the crap out of me, so going with Braden Holtby in net seems like the safest option. I want to use Ondrej Pavelec tonight because of his team facing Dustin Tokarski, but it’ll be hard to actually pull that trigger.

Play the $14,000 guaranteed, $3 entry Wrist Shot contest tonight on DraftKings! Details below.

-$14,000 prize pool.
– First place wins $1,000
– $3 entry fee (FREE with first deposit)
– Top 1,085 finishing positions are paid.
– Starts tonight at 7:00 PM EST
– Salary Cap Style Drafting. $50,000 to select 9 spots. 8 players and 1 goalie.
– Roster Format: 2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G and 1 Util.

As always, check Left Wing Lock for goalie confirmations.

Players will be in order of perceived value, by position, and there should be enough to mix-and-match for each type of game available on Draft Kings. Some positions might only have a few plays, some might have several. It all depends on the day, the matchups, and the price.

Remember: players are in order of value, not necessarily in cost. Just because Sidney Crosby is $8000 one day doesn’t mean he’s a better value than Andrew Shaw at $4000.

Cash Games

Centre Wing Defense Goalie
Backstrom (WSH) – $5500 Nyquist (DET) – $4700 Ebklad (FLA) – $3800 Holtby (WSH) – $8300
Sedin (VAN) – $4800 Marchand (BOS) – $4300 Kronwall (DET) – $3900 Lack (VAN) – $7700
Zetterberg (DET) – $6400 Forsberg (NSH) – $5100 Byfuglien (WPG) – $6000 Pavelec (WPG) – $8400
Krejci (BOS) – $4100 Kucherov (TBL) – $4600 Chara (BOS) – $4500
Bjugstad (FLA) – $4600 Wheeler (WPG) – $7500 Carlson (WSH) – $5900
Ribeiro (NSH) – $3600 Ovechkin (WSH) – $9300
Johnson (TBL) – $5500 Boyes (FLA) – $3900
Scheifele (WPG) – $5100 Gerbe (CAR) – $3600
Perron (PIT) – $4400

  • Backstrom’s price is far too good to pass up. Ovechkin not so much.
  • David Krejci should return to the lineup tonight, and he’s slated to play on the Bergeron line. That price tag is pretty reasonable for a player returning from injury.
  • Two winger notes: Gustav Nyquist has been moved up alongside Henrik Zetterberg and Filip Forsberg is back with Mike Ribeiro.
  • Byfuglien should be back tonight for the Jets while Dougie Hamilton is out for Boston (which should give Chara a bigger role offensively).

Guaranteed Prize Pools/Tournaments

Centre Wing Defense Goalie
Zetterberg (DET) – $6400 Nyquist (DET) – $4700 Kronwall (DET) – $3900 Hackett (BUF) – $6500
Backstrom (WSH) – $5500 Abdelkader (DET) – $4600 Carlson (WSH) – $5900 Rask (BOS) – $8600
Johansson (WSH) – $3300 Ovechkin (WSH) – $9300 Weber (VAN) – $3400 Luongo (FLA) – $7800
Sedin (VAN) – $4800 Vrbata (VAN) – $8600 Byfuglien (WPG) – $6000
Scheifele (WPG) – $5100 Wheeler (WPG) – $7500 Ekblad (FLA) – $3800
Pirri (FLA) – $5400 Stafford (WPG) – $4700
Bjugstad (FLA) – $4600 Boyes (FLA) – $3900

  • As far as cheap stacks go, it would be Florida or Detroit. The other three would be the expensive ones.
  • Notice that I have just Vrbata listed for Vancouver wingers. Daniel Sedin is so over-priced that it’s hard to use both he and Vrbata, and I’d rather have Vrbata. To lower the total cost, I don’t mind putting in Alex Burrows instead of Vrbata if it helps use Wheeler or Ovechkin.
  • Florida has 11 goals in 3 games against Toronto this year. The Leafs are still without their best centre in Nazem Kadri. Giddy up.

Slim’s Pickins (bargain plays)

Calle Jarnkrok (NSH-C, $2500) – I don’t like any of the bargain centres tonight, so Jarnkrok is the best of the worst.

Dwight King (LAK-W, $2800) – Still playing with Carter/Toffoli and they should avoid the Boychuk/Leddy matchup.

Matt Hunwick (NYR-D, $2900) – Paired with Keith Yandle at even strength.

Good luck!
