Fantasy Basketball: A Seven-Step Approach To Injuries

Orlando Magic small forward Tobias Harris

7. Protecting The Stash, Or NotMarc Gasol. Anthony Davis. Larry Sanders. Danilo Gallinari. All have him out for an indefinite amount of time and all have major, if in different degrees, upside. If your squad can take their absence then there’s no reason to fret. But, if not, you will have to make the decision on whether to cast them to the waiver wire – if they’re not considered “undroppable” players – or stash them for rosier times.

With Davis, it’s easy. He’s too much of a league-changer to drop unless he was out for the season. Gasol isn’t such a guarantee but is good enough to keep. Sanders was worth a double-take a month or so ago but should now be approached with caution, even if on the waiver wire. Gallinari should not be in any shallow league lineup because he has no set return, has the least upside when healthy, and will be competing with Chandler for minutes/position when back on the court. As with the rest of these, scrutiny is key.
