Daily Fantasy Hockey Value Update – January 7, 2014

Tyler Bozak, Daily fantasy hockey

Pittsburgh Penguins at Vancouver Canucks

If you’re looking for another high-octane scoring game, this would seem to be it. I don’t like to put much faith into outside influences because they’re hard to quantify, but that this game will feature two teams with rosters that have double-digit numbers of Olympic players, I would expect a little extra fire underneath these players tonight.

Pittsburgh has scored at least three goals in 11 of their last 13 games, though the two they didn’t just happened to be road games. The Pens are 6-2 against Western Conference teams so far this season and have won five straight. Those games include San Jose and Anaheim, so it’s not cupcake competition that they’ve been facing.

The Canucks will be without Roberto Luongo and backup Eddie Lack has lost his last three straight games. He’s allowed 10 goals over those last three games and the scary part is that only one two of those were on the power play. He hasn’t been good lately, and it’s not going to get any easier tonight.

I’ll be taking as many skaters from Pittsburgh that I can fit in my lineups but will be staying away from both goaltenders. Essentially, my DFS night will sink or swim with this game.
