Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 31

Anze Kopitar

Florida Panthers at New Jersey Devils

Florida is riding out the season Buffalo-style it seems; the Panthers have lost five of six and have managed all of six goals in those games. They have also allowed 21 goals against over that stretch and four power play goals against are mixed in there as well. Long story short, until this team proves that it’s trying to win consistently and not riding out the season, I won’t be relying on any of them for DFS purposes. I may rely on them to suck, though.

New Jersey probably sealed their playoff fate in the last couple of games with shootout losses in both of them. The nice thing is, they probably think they still have a realistic chance so they should be bringing their A-game for the next week at least. New Jersey only has seven wins since the Olympics but, in those wins, the team has scored 29 goals. In other words, when they win, it seems it’s because their offense is dominating the other team, it’s not from great goaltending performances. One downside with the Devils right now is that their power play has gone four straight games without a goal. They are going up against, the NHL’s worst penalty kill, however.

New Jersey lost 5-3 to Florida just a couple of weeks ago in a game where the Devils only gave up 22 shots on goal. The fact that the Devils regularly give up 30 shots on goal yet the goalies regularly let in two or more goals is nerve-wracking. I would avoid whoever is in net for New Jersey tonight but the players will be cheap enough to help fill out 50/50s and GPPs with some value guys.
