Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 28

Phil Kessel

New York Rangers at Calgary Flames

The Rangers are one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference in the not-Boston division, winning five straight games and going 8-3-0 in their last 11 games overall. Team defense and goaltending has been the reason for the surge, as the team has allowed just 19 goals against in those 11 games (1.7 goals against/game) while Henrik Lundqvist has a .921 save percentage for the month of March (and a .930 save percentage in 2014). One big problem is that Martin St. Louis hasn’t scored since coming over from Tampa Bay, posting zero goals and three assists in 12 games as a Ranger. Sure, it was expected that maybe it might take some time to nestle in with a center who is not Steven Stamkos, but this is a bit ridiculous.

The Flames had a nine game stretch where they did not allow more than 26 shots on goal but they have now allowed 34 in back to back games (and still only gave up four goals against, so stick-tap to goaltender Karri Ramo). But as most streaks, things come to an end, and that’s what’s happening with the team and with Mike Cammalleri; over an 11-game stretch this month, Cammalleri had 10 goals, 16 points, and averaged over three shots on goal per game. In their last two games, Cammalleri has zero points and is averaging just two shots on goal.

By all accounts, this should be a low-scoring game. These two teams met in December and it was a 4-3 shootout game, but that was not the same Calgary team as it is now. I don’t particularly like either goalie, so I will probably just pick some value skaters for 50/50s and that’s it.
