Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 26

Matt Moulson

Anaheim Ducks at Calgary Flames

The Ducks are sort of limping along this month, going 4-4-2 and getting absolutely blown out by these very Calgary Flames in Calgary two weeks ago 7-2.

Despite the so-so month of March, this team is still averaging an even three goals for/game in their 10 games. One thing that has started to cost the Ducks some games is their penalty kill: over their last eight games, the PK has allowed nine goals against, posting a god-awful 62.5-percent penalty kill rate. Most nights, it won’t matter how proficient your offense is if you’re averaging more than one power play goal against. On the bright side, the power play has connected in back to back games and that’s good news for Pat Maroon’s DFS value.

Calgary is playing some inspired hockey right now, winning five of their last seven and going 8-5-0 so far in the month of March. For just the second time since the Olympic break, the Flames allowed more than 26 shots on goal in their last outing (oddly enough, a 34-shots against performance against San Jose that they won 2-1 in a shootout). The penalty kill has been very, very good this month as well posting an 88.2-percent efficiency (allowing just four power play goals against in 13 games).

I certainly don’t expect a 7-2 game like the one in Calgary a couple of weeks ago, but this will be a close game (or appears to be). I wouldn’t be afraid to use Karri Ramo in net for some GPPs but might shy away from Michael Cammalleri for now, his price is getting a bit exorbitant and he’s running incredibly hot right now.
