Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 26

Matt Moulson

Philadelphia Flyers at New York Rangers

This Flyers team is on quite the run this month; Philly has gone 8-2-1 this month and two of those three losses were to non-playoff teams (Toronto, New Jersey). They’ve beaten the Rangers, Penguins (twice), Blackhawks, Stars, and Blues in the month of March. That’s pretty impressive stuff. They had even had a positive impact on their season-long possession rates until the last couple of games against St. Louis and Los Angeles (and everyone gets out-possessed by those two teams). They also only have one game in their last 18 played where they scored one-or-none. In other words, pretty reliable offensively for DFS value (it’s just a matter of getting the right players).

After a rough start to the month of March, the Rangers have gone 5-1-0 in their last six games and have only allowed 11 goals against in those six matches. The power play has gone pretty silent of late – just 1-for-19 in those six games – but the team has still managed 21 goals in those games, shooting about 10.6-percent along the way. The penalty kills has been excellent this month though, allowing just three goals in 13 games and posting an 88.6-percent efficiency. The newly-formed second line of Martin St. Louis, Derick Brassard, and Mats Zuccarello did look good in their first game together, although things are a bit muddled now with Chris Kreider’s injury on the top line.

Despite these two teams having an easy time scoring goals right now, there were only 14 goals scored in the three games before this one between the two clubs. The home team has won all three meetings this year so I wouldn’t be shy to use Henrik Lundqvist in net for 50/50s, provided a couple of goals is easy to swallow.
