Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 22

Jamie Benn

New York Rangers at New Jersey Devils

The Rangers have won three of their last four games and have had just eight goals scored against them in those four games. While the penalty kill has been pretty solid – 90-percent efficiency in those last four games – the power play has been an abysmal 0-for-14 in those games. The big thing is that for the last few games, it’s been the support players, guys like Derick Brassard, Carl Hagelin, and Mats Zuccarello, who have been carrying the load offensively. In DFS, this can provide a pretty good value opportunity in some games.

New Jersey snapped their three-game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime win over Minnesota on Thursday night. Over those last four games, the power play has gone 3-for-11 though. The down side of that 3-for-11 mark is that the team has scored just nine goals in those four games. Teams relying on the power play for a third of their goals don’t usually win games on a consistent basis. The scoring is a bit spread out right now though to really rely on this team in DFS games.

In the four games these two teams have played against each other this year, there has been 26 total goals scored. That amount of goals bodes very well for DFS. Both teams have a penchant for not getting consistent production from their top guys, though, so I would rather just avoid whoever starts in net for both teams as well as the high-priced players.
