Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 22

Jamie Benn

Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs

To quote a very famous Canadian hockey broadcaster, “ohhhh baby.”

These two teams, long-time rivals, are both fighting for playoff spots right now as the Habs and Leafs are separated by just three points in the standings. The floor is falling out for the Leafs of late as well as the team has lost four of their last five games in regulation and have a goal differential of minus-8 in those games. They have also allowed five power play goals against in their last four games. One thing to keep note of is who starts in net tonight; Jonathan Bernier had been skating and practicing with the team, though it’s not determined yet if he’s actually ready for game play.

The Habs lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night, ending the team’s three game win streak. The team has shuffled their lines around a bit again as Lars Eller is now on the fourth line while Tomas Plekanec is centring the secong line with Daniel Briere and Brendan Gallagher. This has moved Alex Galchenyuk to the third line with Brian Gionta and Rene Bourque. I don’t know how long those lines will stay together, but having Gionta and Galchenyuk down the depth chart should provide good, sheltered minutes for this line (and that’s good for DFS).

There hasn’t been fewer than six total goals in any of the three games these two teams have played against each other this year and the Habs have a slight edge in total goals 11-10. This should be a good game to pick a couple of skaters from either side for 50/50s but I would avoid the goaltenders completely.
