Washington Capitals at San Jose Sharks
This is the last game for Washington on their California road trip and the team has managed to take three out of four points so far from Los Angeles and Anaheim. Jaroslav Halak has come in and really settled this team down in net as he has started seven straight games for the Capitals and has allowed just 15 goals against in those seven games. One player that has been on a tear for this team is Joel Ward as he has scored a goal in four straight games. On the flipside, Alex Ovechkin has just two goals (and zero assists) in his last eight games. He has managed 25 shots on goal in those eight games though, so it’s probably just a matter of time before he breaks out big. I just wouldn’t bet on it against San Jose.
The Sharks have gone 8-1-1 so far for the month of March but the scoring has really started to slow down of late as the team has just six goals in their last three games. They do have power play goals in back to back games though so that bodes well for a bit of DFS value. One thing they have done is limit power play chances for their opponents, as the team has averaged just two power play opportunities against in their last five games.
I’m not quite what to make of this game because both teams are playing pretty well of late, but the odds are heavily in San Jose’s favour from the Vegas lines. I’d rather just pick at a few players from both sides for 50/50 games and probably avoid the goalies.
