Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 18

Rick Nash

Chicago Blackhawks at Philadelphia Flyers

Despite the mystique that surrounds this Chicago Blackhawks team, they are just 4-4-0 since the Olympic break. They have scored 24 goals in those eight games, but 11 of them came in two games against Columbus and a depleted Pittsburgh team. That means this team has scored 13 goals in the other six games since the break and five goals in three road games. Their road games since the all-star break have averaged fewer than four total goals, so I’m not sure that they fill the net tonight, even if they are playing against Steve Mason and an immobile defense.

Philadelphia has found their scoring ways again as the team has managed at least three goals scored in seven of their eight games since the Olympics (averaging 3.75 goals for/game in that stretch). The team has also killed off 15 straight penalties spanning their last four games. Captain Claude Giroux is just absolutely flying right now as well with four goals and eight assists in eight games since the Olympics.

This game seems like it should be a high-scoring game on the surface so I will treat it as such. With Brandon Saad out for Chicago, it kind of muddles the lines but we should see Kris Versteeg on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa. When picking from Philly players, though, I would be more tempted to pick from their second line and avoid the Toews-Giroux match-up.
