Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – March 18

Rick Nash

Washington Capitals at Anaheim Ducks

The Capitals need to start racking up the points if they wish to make the playoffs and that started with two wins over the weekend against Vancouver and Toronto. Jaroslav Halak has come in and given them some pretty good goaltending, allowing just 12 goals in five games since being traded to the Caps and posting a .924 save percentage. The team is starting to get hobbled a little bit as Brooks Laich joins Mikhail Grabovski and John Erskine in the injured reserve. The result is that rookie Evgeny Kuznetsov is now the second line left winger and Jay Beagle is the first line centre.

Anaheim ended their four-game losing streak over the weekend with wins over Colorado and Los Angeles, scoring eight goals along the way. The latest winger to find his way to the top line with Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf has been Jakob Silfverberg. He didn’t find the back of the net but he managed to generate five shots on goal. With Cam Fowler out, Hampus Lindholm has found his way to the top power play unit and also gets quite a few minutes at even strength with the Getzlaf line. Those are two guys that are playing prime minutes that still carry a fairly cheap price tag.

These two teams met back in December and the result was a 3-2 win for Anaheim. With the way Jaroslav Halak is playing right now for Washington, that would seem to be an appropriate scoring line for tonight. I will look at the cheap Anaheim guys but will probably stay away from everyone else in this game.
