Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – February 3

Chris Kunitz

Philadelphia Flyers at San Jose Sharks

The Flyers finish their California trip after splitting the first two in Los Angeles and Anaheim. Steve Mason also had a 35-save shutout in Los Angeles, a 2-0 win for the team. The team has been declining slowly for a while now as they have gotten their teeth kicked in possession-wise their last 10 games and that has led to a 4-4-2 record. Where they have been proficient is on the scoreboard as they Flyers have still managed 31 goals in those 10 games thanks in large part to a power play that has been operating at a 24.2-percent efficiency in those contests. They have given up eight power play goals against in those games as well, so their net special teams boost is zero.

San Jose has had their problems scoring of late with just two goals in their last four games with losses to Calgary, Edmonton, and Los Angeles squeezed in there. Over those four games, the Sharks are shooting an amazingly-low 1.34-percent. That is to say that this team is generating a lot of chances but just don’t have the scorers to finish them without Logan Couture and Tomas Hertl. The power play has gone goalless in their last six games but the penalty kill has been fairly stellar in the meantime.

This seems like a good game for the Sharks to break out offensively. There is nothing in their numbers to say that they shouldn’t be scoring other than their shooting percentage. Teams go through stretches like this all the time – the Rangers a couple months ago, the Kings more recently – and it’s just a matter of time before the break out. I don’t like playing the “they’re due” game, but they’re due.

I won’t be taking anyone in net for this game but I will most certainly have a few Sharks players given how far their prices have dropped recently.

Note: Brent Burns has made his way to the top power play unit in San Jose and Dan Boyle has cemented himself on that unit as well.
