Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – February 3

Chris Kunitz

Vancouver Canucks at Detroit Red Wings

In the Battle of Teams That Were Really Good Three Years Ago, Vancouver travels to Detroit for the second and final meeting between these two teams this year. The first one went to Detroit (in Vancouver) by a 2-1 score back in October.

Vancouver was having trouble scoring goals for a while but they have averaged three goals for per game over their last four. The problem is that they’ve allowed 17 goals against in those four games and the result is a 1-3 mark. On top of that, the power play has converted once in their last 20 opportunities but the penalty kill is just 81-percent over their last six games as well. This team just can’t seem to sync up all the facets of the game at once, making them very unreliable in DFS.

Detroit has just seven wins in their last 17 games and three wins in regulation or overtime since January 1st. A big problem for them has been their own penalty kill, which is just 77.8-percent since New Year’s Eve as well. This team desperately needs to get healthy and that won’t happen any time soon it looks like. Tonight also makes three games in four days for the Wings and I’m not sure how Henrik Zetterberg’s body will hold up under those conditions given his back problems.

It’s tough to bet anything on the Canucks right now but I do think it’s a better spot for them than the Wings tonight. It’s also the return of John Tortorella from his suspension so if there was ever a “win this one for the coach” game this year for Vancouver, it’s tonight.
