Daily Fantasy Hockey DFS Value Update – February 27

Los Angeles Kings at Calgary Flames

I won’t get into all the streaks that the Kings broke last night in their 6-4 win in Colorado, but that was a most unexpected offensive outburst. Also, coming out of the Olympic break and starting with back to back games on the road in different countries can’t be an easy process for any team. It is expected that Jonathan Quick will get the start in net tonight, though, so there is a little bit of hope for the Kings to pull this one out.

Calgary looked pretty good going into the Olympic break in winning five of their final seven games before the vacation. All of their top player should be rested for the game tonight and that alone gives them a distinct advantage over the Kings.

One downside for Calgary is that because Kari Ramo’s injury and Reto Berra still not ready to play upon his return from Sochi, they are forced to turn to rookie Joni Ortio. The former sixth round pick from 2009 has 22 games of pretty good AHL hockey under him but this is a completely different animal tonight.

Calgary already has two wins against Los Angeles this year and the Kings are in a bad spot tonight. I am tempted to use Ortio in my GPP games tonight. I would also be tempted with some of Calgary’s top skaters and would avoid LA at all costs.
