Chicago Blackhawks at Columbus Blue Jackets
Chicago managed a tough, hard-fought shootout win last night against Minnesota and that should be commended. That said, they are playing back to back nights without their two best players and are visiting a team that is playing some of the best defensive hockey in the NHL right now. Typically, I don’t really care about back to backs for Chicago but this is not one of those typical times. I would rather just avoid this team tonight.
With their shutout of Philadelphia last night, the Columbus Blue Jackets have allowed just 35 goals against in their last 17 games dating back to March 1st. The Blue Jackets goaltending (mostly Bobrovsky) has a .931 save percentage over that stretch of games. They’re not lighting the lamp at will, but they’re not allowing many goals either and that sets a higher floor than would otherwise be expected. The team has also allowed just eight power play goals in those 17 games as well, so the penalty kill has been sharp.
I know Chicago beat the Jackets 6-1 about a month ago but this game has a completely different feel to it. I do see this as a low-scoring contest so DFSers out there that are looking for a decent GPP play, Sergei Bobrovsky is a decent roll of the dice. Other than that, a couple value skaters and that’s it.
