Without further ado, Week 5 values and picks.

Value Plays

Quarterback

Drew Stanton, Arizona Cardinals $5,000

With Carson Palmer likely out again this week, Stanton becomes a top value. His price of $5,000 is the minimum for a quarterback on DraftKings, which means you can use the bulk of your cap on skill players. Stanton totaled 19.36 fantasy points two weeks ago against the 49ers defense, and faces the Broncos defense this week. Denver has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season, and with the Cardinals having one of the better wide receiver tandems in the NFL in Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald, Stanton will be in for a big day.

Running Back

Matt Asiata, Minnesota Vikings $4,700

Asiata continues to be a value on DraftKings, as his price rose by just $200 since his three-touchdown game last week. Since Adrian Peterson was suspended, Asiata has three games of double-digit fantasy points, so he is as consistent as they come with a cheap price. This week, Asiata and the Vikings will take on the Packers who are 28th in the NFL in allowing fantasy points to running backs. Is a three-touchdown game likely again? No, but he could very well score at least once.

Wide Receiver

Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles $5,600

So far this season, Maclin is averaging the seventh-most fantasy points per game in DraftKings’ format. This week, he is the 22nd-highest price at wide receiver. Why is there such a difference? The Rams only allow the 12th-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season, and only allow 187 yards per game through the air. That sounds like a tough matchup, but the Rams have also only faced 69 passes in three games. The Eagles average over 41 passes per game. It’s no wonder the Rams defense brought Maclin’s price down, but do not fall into the trap, as that’s a misleading statistic.

Tight End

Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs $3,000

The minimum price for tight ends on DraftKings is $3,000. Kelce has the ninth-most PPR points at tight end this season, and is coming off a massive night against the Patriots where he scored 23.3 points on DraftKings. He will be facing the Niners defense, who have one of the premier linebackers in the NFL in Patrick Willis. But, last week Kelce lined up all over the place, and it’s doubtful that the Niners would have their middle linebacker shadow a tight end to open up room for Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis.
