Daily Fantasy Baseball DFS Value Update – April 2

Mark Trumbo

Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates

These two teams battled to a 1-0 game on Opening Day and the over/under in Vegas does not suggest this will be a high scoring game. There isn’t a ton of history between Edwin Jackson and the current Pittsburgh Pirates, but I won’t be starting Edwin Jackson today (can’t trust him). I’m not a big fan of anyone from the Cubs today, so I’ll probably just avoid them.

A couple of Pittsburgh players have done fairly well against Jackson in the past as Starling Marte (5-for-11) and Andrew McCutchen (8-for-20) have both rocked Jackson at times. Beyond those two, I don’t like the hitters but I don’t mind the pitcher: Charlie Morton had 16 Ks in 18 IP against the Cubs last year and managed a 3.50 ERA in three starts. As far as cheap pitchers go, he’s certainly among the best.

Andrew McCutchen (OF) – $8597

Starling Marte (OF) – $5718

Charlie Morton (SP) – $12,902
