Bowles, McDaniels, Gase Should be First on the Hiring Line on Black Monday

Adam Gase

Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels, New England Patriots – McDaniels failed in his first run as a head coach with the Denver Broncos, largely because he was obsessed with making sure everyone knew he was boss. That type of attitude did not fit with his personality, and he came across as phony and unlikable. If he can show in interviews that he has learned from his mistakes and that he can let his true personality come through, then he would be a deserving candidate.

McDaniels is thriving as the Patriots’ offensive coordinator, and that job has been quite challenging this year. Earlier in the season, the Patriots did not have much of an offensive identity. However, Tom Brady has come back to form and Rob Gronkowski is healthy. The wide receivers are stepping up and the Pats have discovered a power running game with Jonas Gray and LeGarrette Blount. If McDaniels hadn’t done his job so well, the Pats’ offense might never have come together. If he can win in the interview process, he will get another chance to be an NFL head coach.
