1. There were a lot of good receivers playing in the Detroit-Chicago game, but Johnson is still the best
With Alshon Jeffery, Brandon Marshall, Golden Tate and Calvin Johnson all making spectacular grabs on Thursday, the latter finally put forth an effort that proved he’s still the NFL’s top wide receiver.
Johnson, who has been battling injuries for most of the season, hauled in 11 passes for 146 yards and a pair of touchdown receptions. Statistics-wise, this was Johnson’s best game since he slashed the Giants secondary for 164 yards and two touchdowns in the season opener. But in terms of playoff significance, there’s no question this was Johnson’s best and most important game this year.
In his career, Megatron has owned the Bears. In 14 career games, Johnson has racked up 74 catches for 1,074 yards and nine touchdowns. Talk about Windy City woes.
