Top 10 NFL Thanksgiving Games of All-Time

Mark Sanchez

Detroit 19, Pittsburgh 16 (OT-1998) – This was not a spectacular game, but it was remembered for the coin toss at the start of overtime. Steelers kicker Norm Johnson sent the game into extra time when he kicked a game-tying 25-yard field goal with four seconds remaining. Referee Phil Luckett conducted the coin toss and Steelers running back Jerome Bettis called tails, and that’s how the coin landed. However, Luckett insisted Bettis said heads prior to saying tails, so the Lions won the toss and chose to receive. The Lions quickly moved the ball downfield, and Jason Hanson kicked a game-winning 42-yard field goal.
