6. Detroit Lions (LW: 4)
It took a little longer than it probably should have for America to buy into the Detroit Lions and their top-ranked defense, but they stormed to the top of the NFC North and were given a fortunate twist in the schedule when their Week 11 road matchup included the NFC’s top team with a backup quarterback. As if it were too perfect for the Lions, they squandered the opportunity, failing to score a touchdown, grab a share of the lead for the number one seed in the NFC, and losing their own grip on the NFC North division. With everything in their own hands, the Lions dropped the ball. As further punishment for wasting their gifts, they get to travel to New England next week.
