MLB Power Rankings Week 25

Garrett Richards

21. San Diego Padres (68-80) (LW 20) – The Padres have had 10 games this month against the lowly Diamondbacks and Rockies, and have gone just 3-7 in those games, including a three-game sweep in Colorado.

22. Philadelphia Phillies (69-80) (LW 21) – The arduous relationship between Jonathan Papelbon and Phillies fans was more than apparent on Sunday afternoon. After blowing a save opportunity, Papelbon made an obscene gesture while walking off the field. It could be an interesting last couple weeks for the team and its closer.

23. Chicago White Sox (68-81) (LW 25) – The legend of Jose Abreu continues to grow. With home runs on Saturday and Sunday, he tied the franchise’s rookie record with Ron Kittle, who hit 35 in 1983.

24. Boston Red Sox (66-84) (LW 26) –This was supposed to be the year that Xander Bogaerts showed that he was going to be one of the next big stars in the game, but that hasn’t quite happened. He is, however, putting together a great September, hitting .368/.383/.649 with four doubles, four home runs, and 11 RBIs in 14 games.

25. Houston Astros (66-83) (LW 24) –Jose Altuve‘s monster season continues. He has become just the eighth player since 1911 with 200 hits, 40 doubles, and 50 steals in the same season.
