Despite the marvelous preseason, Bortles was benched in favor of Chad Henne to begin the 2014 season, just as Jaguars management and coaches had promised.
Henne put forth a solid effort, racking up 266 yards, a pair of touchdown passes and a 89.9 quarterback rating while leading the Jags to a 17-0 halftime lead over Philadelphia. But Henne and the offense posted an egg in the second half, leading to a loss.
It won’t be long before Jacksonville is out of contention and Bortles will see the field.
