5. Teddy Bridgewater vs. Christian Ponder
Matt Cassel was re-signed in the offseason to serve as a bridge for first-round pick Bridgewater. Ponder, the Vikings’ former first-round pick, may just be trying to salvage his professional career.
This quarterback competition is more about how far along Bridgewater is as a rookie than anything else. If Bridgewater can’t beat the likes of Ponder, you can bet he won’t have a chance to start any games in 2014. However, all indications from OTAs is Bridgewater looks good, so expect him to back up Cassel and potentially start at some point this season.
